  • Pretty slick set up there Tico! You’ve put a lot of thought into it and, moreover, you are continually refining it. I like what I see. One question: how far away from the side of the shooting board is the plane kept?

    Hi Chris,

    The sole off the plane is a bit less than 1/16″ away from the side of the board. The sliding fence get’s set just a hair shy of the edge of the plane iron. If you hear that you’re shaving into it, you know the plane is rocking. Eventually you might need to square up the fence. No problem. There’s a career’s worth of extra travel.
